atmospheric conditions. These data, while being compared with the output file from theMeteonorm software, were imported from the Weather tool of the Ecotect software and weredisplayed as the analytical results (Sabet Dizavandi, 2017). This tool is capable of calculatingthe amount of solar radiation received on a vertical plate with a surface area of 1 m2 in warmand cold periods, as well as the whole year. It can also provide the most proper and the mostimproper orientations of the building in terms of obtaining radiation. The cold months of theyear for the city of Mashhad included December, January and February, as well as the warmmonths, were June, July and August. Figure 2 displays the solar protractor to determine theradiation level in different directions. In Figure 2, the yellow-red spectra represent the most appropriate and mostinappropriate orientations of the building in terms of solar radiation. Figure 3 shows thedirection and amount of wind. This figure shows that the dominant winds of Mashhad arefrom east to west, so the length of the building sides should be as low as possible in the eastto the west direction. Hence, the building will be exposed to the least effect of the adversewind in the winter.Figure 1.Research methodflowchartZero-energyresidentialbuilding
